The Citation X was first announced in at NBAA in 1990 and first flew in December 1993. The design team was awarded with the prestigious Colliers Trophy in 1997 and development continued until the 300th aircraft was delivered in 2009. A new version called Citation Ten is currently in development and on a test flight in April 2013 it recaptured the speed crown recording a speed of Mach .935. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2015.
